Abstract

Blood stream infections (BSIs) include a wide variety of clinical symptoms, from transitory bacteraemia to septic shock with significant mortality. Regular BSI etiology watch is vital for monitoring the bacterial infections and their sensitivity pattern in a certain area, which aids in justifying medication. The current study was conducted to know about the bacteriological etiology of BSIs as well as the antibiotic susceptibility pattern of the isolated strains. During the study, 40 blood samples from patients with a sepsis were processed from Western India. Bacteriological identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing were performed for all bacterial isolates. A total 40 bacterial isolates were obtained, the prime organisms were K. pneumoniae followed by Pseudomonas spp., and E. coli. While most of the isolates were sensitivity to antibiotics. This study emphasizes the importance of ongoing antibiotic resistance screening and surveillance in BSI infections.
